There's a certain kind of magic that happens in Whitefish.
It's in the alpine glow brushing across Big Mountain. It's in the steam curling up from a post-ski soak in the outdoor hot tub. And it's in the easy, familiar feeling of walking through the timber-framed doors at Grouse Mountain Lodge, whether you’re arriving from out of town or just down the street.
Since 1984, this year-round lodge has been part of that rhythm — a trusted space for celebrations, community dinners, weddings, and winter retreats. And now, it’s about to grow in a bold new way, one that builds on the community roots and brings new energy to Whitefish’s year-round story.
This fall, Pursuit is unveiling the next chapter in Grouse Mountain Lodge's evolution: a new 8,250-square-foot wedding and event pavilion, a purpose-built space that blends Montana’s natural beauty with elevated hospitality and design. It’s the first step in a larger vision for the future of this Whitefish icon.
“This new pavilion represents a reinvestment in a place that's been part of Whitefish’s rhythm for decades,” says Rob Spence, Vice President, Glacier Park Collection by Pursuit. “It’s built for the next generation of stories, celebrations, and connections.”
Set against the stunning peaks and pines of northwest Montana, the new pavilion is designed for every kind of gathering. From intimate ceremonies to large-scale celebrations, this space blends mountain charm and an elevated hospitality experience to create unforgettable moments year-round.
From design details to behind-the-scenes logistics, every part of the pavilion experience is crafted for ease and connection — making event planning seamless, whether you’re hosting a destination wedding, leading a retreat, or celebrating with your local community.
True to Pursuit’s promise of thoughtful, sustainable growth, the new pavilion is being designed in partnership with Montana-based firms, including Kalispell-based design firm Cushing Terrell and Martell Construction.
Think: warm wood tones, natural materials, playful textures, and nods to the warm and vibrant spirit that makes Whitefish so special.
“This development reflects our commitment to reinvesting in the places we love and the communities we’re proud to be part of,” says Spence.
The new pavilion is expected to open in fall 2026. In the meantime, Grouse Mountain Lodge will remain fully open and operational, welcoming guests for ski weekends, summer hikes, cozy dinners at Logan’s, and everything in between.
This isn’t a departure from the lodge you know and love. It’s an evolution! One that keeps community at the heart and creates even more space for meaningful moments.
And while the pavilion is just the beginning, there’s much more to come.
