Where Music and Mountains Meet: Employee spotlight on Ben Darce
Ben Darce has lived and worked at Glacier Park Lodge in East Glacier for 12 consecutive seasons. Ben is a server in the Great Northern Dining room. You can also find him on the guitar entertaining guests and employees by the lobby's fireplace nightly. Here's a short Q&A we fit in with Ben between gigs and summits.
"Austin, TX & Greenville, SC."
"I grew up hiking in the Applachian Mountains with the Boy Scouts and really enjoyed it. After moving back to South Carolina during the summer while attending college in Texas, I realized the area didn't have the outdoor recreation opportunities I was looking for. Around this time, someone mentioned Glacier National Park to me. I had never heard of the park before, so I googled it. Iceberg Lake popped up first, then a link for a Glacier Park Collection by Pursuit job. The rest is history."
"While in college for music performance, I spent all of my summers in Glacier. Upon graduation, I packed up and made Montana home. I spent this past winter living in Whitefish. I've been so lucky that working for Glacier Park Collection by Pursuit has allowed me to pursue my passion for music and the mountains simultaneously."
"Climb Mountains. Pursue summits. I explore Glacier as much as I possibly can."
"My favorite part about working in Glacier (besides the opportunity to explore remote wildernesses) is the chance to meet and form relationships. Glacier attracts some pretty unique and wonderful people, I'm happy to be a part of that."
"As much as I love hiking and climbing in the mountains, I would be a golden eagle. Hah, this way I wouldn't have to walk everywhere."
