The area surrounding Whitefish is a popular destination for snowmobillers and has outfitters who provide both rentals and guided tours. A favorite trip is a ride up to the summit of Whitefish Mountain Resort complete with a stop inside the Summit House for a hot drink before continuing your journey into the backcountry.
Surrounding Flathead Valley has over 200 miles of groomed snowmobile trails with almost 2000 miles of Forest Service roads that offer access to a variety of terrain. From hill climbing, powder, wildlife viewing to fun cruising, there’s something for every rider in the Glacier region.
Tours depart from a variety of locations near Whitefish. Crane Mountain tours depart from the Swan Valley near Bigfork. The Desert Mountain tours trailhead is about 4 miles east of Martin City. The Canyon Creek trailhead is about 5 miles north of Columbia Falls.
